Strong Computer Engineering Weak Computer Science? ***???

Okay so i was under the impression that most schools that have strong computer engineering programs would have a strong computer science program as well...apparently not

Purdue while ranked like 10th in the nation for Computer Engineering apparently their Computer Science program is...sub-par...

Was this a rumor or is this true? Also, what about for these schools? :D

* Purdue U
* U Arizona
* U Illinois Urbana
* U Maryland Coll Park
* U Mass Amherst
* U Minn Twin Cities
* U Washington
* U Wis Madison

Im just wondering what i should put as my intended major or the specific school i should put that i want to get into..

**Note : im more interested in the programming and that side of computer science than the electrical engineering aspect...keep this is mind...

Somebody's misinformed or pulling your leg. Purdue has a top-20 CS program.

U of Arizona: Strong
UIUC: Top 10, very strong in computer systems
U of Maryland-CP: Top 20
UMass Amherst: Top 20, better if you want to do AI
UMinn-TC: Strong
UW: Top 10, very strong in AI
UWis-Madison: Top 20, better if you want to do programming language design

(By "Strong" I mean, roughly, somewhere in the 20-75 range.)

CEN is half cs and Half EE, CS is half Linguistics and half math. So go work it out.

interesting jessie, what are some other schools you think i should look at?

btw are you looking at specifically their CS department not CompEngineering?
