MyU account says “strong defer” in communication center and “defer” in the application tracker. Does anyone know what “strong defer” means and it it’s a good or a bad thing?
28 ACT
3.4 GPA
Call Admissions and ask. It’s a good thing unless practically everyone else who was deferred is also a “strong defer”.You can ask them what percentage are in this category.
Did you apply to CLA or which college?
@ darkknight15…where did you see strong defer?how did you got to communication center?
You can get to the communication center through your MyU account. If you log in, click on Key Links–>student center then on the far right you will see the communication center.
Yes I applied to CLA as my first choice. I will give them a call tomorrow and get more details about what “strong defer” means
I can see why you are a ‘strong’ defer for CLA. Good luck!
@JBStillFlying thank you! Fingers crossed
Anyone know from the past if they actually wait until 3/31 for the decisions
thank you!
@Frasof - UMN has rolling decisions - even now they have begun admitting the kids who applied by Jan. 1. So by 3/31 (if that’s their deadline on the admissions page - haven’t checked) they will have given everyone a decision. But they could well hand that out in Feb. or early March.
Hopefully those who got deferred will not have to wait that long… I applied 10/23, was deferred on 1/27… Let’s hope that I will not hear back on 3/28
I was deferred but don’t have anything in my communications… probably means I’ll be denied, right?
@darknight15 did you ever call to see what strong deferred means? @jkirsy when did you receive your deferral in the application tracker. My ds turned there first and the next morning it was in the myu communication center. Maybe there is just a delay?
@hopingMN Nope, I was deferred Friday night/Saturday morning, its been a while…
My son was also deferred on Friday night and to this day he does not have one communication from UMN TC in his communication center. However he does have 8 from UMD. He does not even have a communication in MyU from UMN TC that his application was recieved.
I called the admissions office and the lady I talked to “wasn’t familiar with that language” in the comm center and had me send her a screenshot of it. So who knows, maybe one of their reviewers decided to put that down without following whatever procedure they have
^^That’s probably true. You guys had found a wormhole to another part of their system and now that’s probably shut tight. Way to go.
Update: no longer does my comm center say “strong defer”, now it says “defer decision to March”
@darknight15 my d’s change to that as well.
My Communication Center message also changed from “Strong defer” to “defer decision to March” overnight
