<p>In my mind, scholarship vs. discounting is a matter of semantics. Different students are paying different costs to attend (either through merit of financial aid). Bottom line is that if a private school costs 43K and the merit award is 12k, then there is still 31K to deal with, and many families will not get more in grants. Padad's post makes sense to me.</p>
