<p>UNC-CH is quite good in most of the sciences, especially at the undergraduate level. The physics department looks good from my experience.</p>
<p>Though I'm a graduate student in the geology department, I've used some of the physics department's facilities and they appear well-funded and they like to get students into the lab. From speaking with an undergraduate physics student while doing some lab work, I found they were required to complete one semester of an independant study in a lab to graduate. I was pretty impressed that they require students to get lab experience before leaving...</p>
