Mostly I’m wondering what are the advantages of taking Structural Engineering at UCSD. In what ways is the program better than USC and Cal Poly Civil Engineering? Is it better?
I don’t know a lot about programs at either university. However, the QS world university rankings for Structural and Civil engineering put UCSD above 30 and USC below 150 (and don’t rank Cal Poly), if those rankings matter to you. I know UCSD has a brand new Structural Engineering building as well as the world’s largest earthquake simulating shake table, but hopefully someone else can tell you more about the programs.
Attending each school’s Open House or Triton Day might help you meet Structural/Civil Engineering students, advisers, and faculty who can help you decide. It’ll also let you determine which campus environment you prefer.
