I got in these two schools, but berkeley admited me as spring 2010 transfer student. As all know, UCSD has the really intensive bioengineering department, which rank 4 this year and 2 last year. But berkeley has a really big name, it is so attractive for Asian student. I am in struggle now. is anyone know which part when apply a graduate school they focus? the major good or bad....or the school's big name?

If you’re serious about bioengineering, to people hiring biomedical engineers, both a berkeley and ucsd degree will look equally prestigious. UCSD has the slight advantage in sciences in general, along with it’s own medical school. Of course, berkeley has the prestige factor, but I think if you’re serious about this major, either choice will be great. Because you’re engineering, i don’t know how the spring 2010 transfer will work out for you. Will you still be able to graduate in 4 years? Will it take 5? if so, maybe UCSD is a better choice since you can start this fall.
