I got accepted early to college, and everyone around me has been saying, "Don't slack off!" And honestly I'm not. I work harder now than I did during first term, I put in a ton of effort, I come at 7:00 in the morning for extra help, but my AP Spanish grade is a still C+, although I study a ton for that class. It was just midterm, so I have like another month to raise it up to a B. In my other classes I am getting A's and B's, but Spanish is worrying me.

I've basically sucked at foreign languages since I was a freshman, I think only once did I get an A-. Last term I pulled off a B in AP Spanish... IF, IF I get a C+ what is the college admissions staff going to do to me?

I've just been hearing horror stories about people getting kicked out because they were slacking off after getting accepted, and I don't want to be one of those people.

mirror of dirt, college I am referring to is Wesleyan.

LOL, there are a lot of places with 'Wesleyan' as part of their names, and I'm too much of a CC novice to know which one is commonly referred to as simply Wesleyan. :p

Usually, the people colleges kick out dropped to wicked lowgrades, like D's and F's. A C+ is not as terrible as you might think, especially if language isn't your thing. Or you can study harder and get that B by next month. :)

Sorry, I meant Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.

Thanks. I'll keep plugging away and hopefully the term 2 report card will have only As and Bs.

there is a book called "Spanish by Association" by Gruneberg. It's out of print but copies are still readily available. it teaches you a relatively easy way to acquire vocabulary, and is worth looking into if you're having a problem with that. Also by the time you finish the book you'll know about 200 words. If you do a web search you can find their site where they now offer the same thing in the book but on a computer.

You can ask your teacher for extra help or suggestions for improvement. Study sessions with classmates, help on CC, watching Spanish television... sound dorky yet? But if you're desperate, I wouldn't hesitate to do any of those things.
