Struggling in Physics

I am currently struggling in physics. I get the explanations, but when I start doing the homework, and especially the tests, I have a really hard time applying them. Are there any suggestions for supplementary material to help me do well in this class? I've tried studying over and over again. I studied for about three hours going over homework problems, and ended up failing the quiz. I have gone in for help, and I get it when I'm there, but when I take the test, I always manage to score really low grades. (I'm currently getting a D, >.< which I'm doing everything I can to raise.)

Also, any suggestions for test taking would also be appreciated. I tend to be a really bad test taker. I get really nervous, and even though I know how to do the problems, I often blank out. This happens to me a lot in precalculus and physics.

Thanks!

I have similar problem in physics....its really wierd I'm great at math but in physics I just get lost ( I know they're hardly the same but math is the base for physics so I would think I'd be good at it too) test taking: just relax, once you get over the initial nervous stage you'll be fine. When you're relaxed you'll see the problems better and be able to apply concepts easierly. For realxing I recommend: take deep breaths, pray ( if your a religious person), meditate, convince yourself that it's just a test....
study wise try and get a tutor, maybe an older physics student can help you, a senior etc...

I wish I had a definitive answer for you. I'm having the same general problem. For me what's helped most is having a tutor. They re-explain what you did in class and can help you with the problems. Depending what class you are in you can buy a study guide. For IB physics they have excellent study guides. And for tests the best bet is to figure out what type of questions will be on the test and practice for them. Ask your teacher for copies of old tests that you could practice with.
