Stuck Between American University and George Mason University

I'm having a difficult time deciding between the two. Political science/International relations/Writing has always been my passion, and I plan to pursue a career either in that or in medicine. The thing is, I was accepted to the GMU's Honors Program—the almost brand-new dorms are awesome, and I love the campus, but the academics aren't on par with AU. In AU, on the other hand, I didn't get into the Honors program (but got into the University Scholars program, which is a step down). AU is a lot better academically (it's ranked 9 or 10 in the nation for IA and is ranked as having the number 1 most politically active campus in the nation) and is more well-known, but the dorms are nowhere near as nice. AU is also more expensive than GMU.

So really, it's a choice of academics vs. comfort. What would you choose? Thoughts, advice, comments?

And to be clear… Going to AU would cost around 104,000 dollars, without interest. (a lot, I know O_O).

GMU would cost around 72,000, and UMCP, which I also got into, is around the same.

Ohio State would be almost free, but the D.C. area would be a lot better since I’m into politics.

Can you afford American or George Mason without taking on debt beyond Stafford loans? If not, Ohio State is your only reasonable choice.

Ohio State without a doubt is the best option.

Definitely go to Ohio State — why pay $100,000+ for a school that has the same prestige. Dont put yourself into massive debt.
