Hey Everyone,

I am a current Junior in high school who (as the title implies) is hoping for a degree in some sort of humanities or liberal arts major. My stats are good/above average: 4.13 weighted GPA (calculated at the end of Sophomore year), class rank hovering around top 10%, 4 AP classes this year, 1950 SAT score (580M, 630CR, 740W, taking again soon), and solid extracurricular activities. Although I live in Virginia, which has superb public schools, I am currently in an awkward position where my class rank/grades are borderline for the two best liberal arts schools (UVa and W&M) and my next two options (VTech and JMU, both of which I should get into) aren't really known for their less professional degree programs. That said, here is what I ask of you: what are my best out-of-state options given my current stats and a budget of $20k a year that have great liberal arts programs as well as good aid/scholarships for families that aren't really "needy" on paper. Size isn't too much of a factor, though I prefer somewhere mid-sized that is within driving distance of Virginia.

Thanks!
