Stuck in a rut. What do I do??

Hi CC. I've been browsing here for a while now and found a lot of answers to questions, but can't find an answer to this one. Apologies if this is in the wrong place

I have been admitted to a comm. college. It's the only college around that's offering what I want to study (digital effects and animation). I went to orientation/registration today but was told the class is completely full; I can only take math and english this year and will have to compete to enter the class next year (since there's only one class). There is no guarantee I will get it next year either. Plus, since I would only be taking two classes for only an hour each once a week, my financial aid won't kick in at all. I have a small scholarship, but it won't get me over to the second semester. I wasn't told the class was filled up earlier until I came to orientation today. IF I can get the main class next year, it would take four whole years to complete it (because of darn prerequisite classes).
My parents and I don't know what to do. I'm not eager to take chances just to spend four years at a community college, but we're not in a financial stance for me to transfer to a university, either. So... help? :(

Make an appointment with the advisor at the CC, and find out if you can get on the waiting list for the classes that you need for your major. If you can, then you will need to show up for the first few days to see if anyone drops out. Sometimes they drop out in the summer and you can get into the class right away.

You can also consider taking a year off entirely (a Gap Year). During that time you could make some money and look around for other places where you could study.
