Here is the situation, then I'll explain what I am left with.

I currently go to UCD and have a 3.7 GPA as a Neurobiology, Physiology, Behavior major
I want to go to UCI so I applied for a fall 2009 transfer -- however, UCI requires a year of chem and a year of bio in order to apply as a transfer, a sort of 'prerequisite.'
I did not take chemistry or biology last year, because I could not get into a chem class or bio class as a freshman. Originally, I was supposed to take Chem2a at Davis but I signed up for the wrong class, there was a huge mixup, and I couldn't get into one. I am a year behind on chem and bio.

Here's the problem:

I didn't get into Irvine obviously, and now I am stuck between:
1) staying at davis another year
2) going to community college

Questions:
Would it be smarter to go to a community college and satisfy the IGETC requirements and then apply to Irvine, or would it be smarter to stay in Davis and then apply for transfer again next year? I am planning on going to Orange Coast College (a community college down in Irvine area) if I were to go to a community college.

Help! I don't want any "stay in Davis because it's already a 4 year" stuff, I just need to know if I REALLY WANT TO GET INTO IRVINE, what is my best route? Thanks all

the best route would be to goto community college because not only would you be able to get guaranteed admission with TAG, it’d just be cheaper. I went from UCSB -> CCC-> Berkeley.

JetForcegeminix - that is the best route for the OP but the bad part about it is that the OP is ineligible for UCI TAG. The reason why is because the OP has already had post-secondary work at an 4-year university.

oh hmm i didn’t know that was an issue with UCI. For UCSD it doesn’t matter if you had 4 year coursework. Anyways, if you went to a CCC you’d have priority at least.

So I’d have priority but without a TAG. What if I were to enroll in the honors program at that CC – would I just have to research into that to see if I have a better shot at getting in?

Also, I’m assuming OP means original poster… I don’t use forums much heh

im currently going to orange coast college. are you planning on staying at occ for a year? I went to CSU Chico for a semester before going to occ. I do suggest enrolling in the honors program and also even a honors society.

it would be hard to finish the honors program in a year especially since you cant take more than 6 units in your last semester but if you were to finish it you would get guaranteed admission into UCI, or atleast very very close to guaranteed.

i’m not sure about TAG but the honors program would help out.
