Yesterday I received a letter from UF's Student Alumni Association asking my parents to purchase a membership. I was wondering if this is something a lot of students do, and if it is worth the money. Thanks.

I signed up for the free t-shirts in the Fall before every football game.
Other than that, it’s been of no use to me.

…I just reread that. Is it your parents who are alumni and getting the membership, or did they get a letter telling them to get the membership for you? I have no clue what benefit it is for actual alumni.

sorry for that ambiguity, i meant that the letter asked my parents to purchase a membership for me

That’s okay! But yeah, I just like the free t-shirts. And if you wear the SAA t-shirt on a specific day and they see you, you can win a watch. And they have some opportunities to get involved, but like I said before, it really isn’t useful to me other than that. Hopefully some other people on here are more active members than me :)

If you’re in marching band, you wouldn’t be able to get said free T-shirts, would you?

Unless the marching band gives you a SAA membership, then no. Its one of the selling points for joining the SAA.

I was offered an SAA membership. My point was that I assume the band members don’t have a chance to go to the proper location to get the shirts.
