student body expansion in the fall, etc.

yay...28 more spots increases our chances ever so slightly.

Heh...chances going slightly up. Reminds me of when Harvard rejected those 119 hacker kids...initially, I didn't know it was from the Business School, and I was doing mental math, trying to figure out how much it might have helped me...

you guys do realize that these changes are effective next year right?

No, it says they're going to admit enough so as to increase the class of '09's size to around 28 more than previously stated. It makes more sense to do it like they're going to do now versus what they were planning on doing (increasing each class by about 125 over three years, I think it was).

I think what Princeton realized is that they can maintain their acceptance rate even though they are admitting more students due to the spike in applications. It's better to start now than to have to accept 150 extras next year if the applications drop - that wouldn't bode well for US News rankings, as acceptance rates would increase by a significant amount. I don't think they will risk dropping to 2 or (gasp!) 3.

Also, these 28 extra slots actually should mean about 40 more acceptances, as they need to accept more students per slots due to yield.

Hopefully all 40 of those new acceptances will be from the deferred pool.

If you don't get in you can always go to PCC (Pensacola Christian College)

really? i thought that was really hard to get in--?

I thought pton got more than 16,000ish apps. hmm

i think they had a little more than 16000 i dun think they broke 17000

PCC actually stands for Pasadena City College

yeah, they broke 17000

oh really? cuhrazy!

PVC is a pipe =P.....haha rite this is such a post whore post :P

I'm confused too.
And how do you know they broke 17000 when the article said 16000ish?

yea i thot they had like 16500 or so something liek that. i didnt think they beat 17000...hmmm sounds a little fishy to me =P

where is this 17,000 number even coming from

wow, imagine how selective princeton is this year....it's scary

ahhh

why did i have to apply in the most selective year? :(

the real question is, why were were BORN that year?

yeah i know

and why didn't i go to a private school
and why didn't i have like 50 more IQ points?

i didnt go to a private school cuz AZ private schools suck :D - most AZ private schools are infested with lotsa drug problems hehe
