Student Body President

Hey CC'ers. I was just wondering, today I was elected in a landslide to be student body president of my competitive private high school, i think the youngest president our school has ever had. and I had already been president of my class for these two years (I am a rising junior). So, does it help at all when application time comes?

My strongest point when it comes to colleges is leadership credentials: i am the head delegate for Model UN, I started and teach a politics and debate club, and I founded/write a political blog with multiple writers (carmonreport.com). Also, head political columnist for newspaper, and other EC's...

For other things, see my "chance me" post here: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/georgetown-university/719824-chance-me-i-will-love-you-forever.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/georgetown-university/719824-chance-me-i-will-love-you-forever.html</a></p>

I will probably be applying to Georgetown EA, either SFS or the college for poli-sci I am not sure yet. So, exactly how much does this help me if at all?
Thanks!

It should definitely help, you seem to be quite passionate about leadership!

Yes it will help… But what you do with the position will mean a lot too, and may make the difference at a lot of good schools.

You look good for a lot of schools - but what are you doing with your summers?

Have Fun

Of course that helps you! You already have great leadership credentials, especially for a rising junior. Being student body president can only be a good thing.

to NC mentor–

I have been working on political campaigns, and this summer ill be interning at a NYC Public Advocate campaign. I will also be attending the HOBY (Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership) and volunteering at a homeless shelter.
