student body?

I have some question for those of you were able to visit or are current students.

Do the people there seem happy? Is it a supportive community (as in not freaks about gpa or status)?

Is it academically challenging?

Also would anyone recomend this school for a medical school hopeful?

Thanks!

I have only visited once (will soon be visiting again). What made me fall in love with the school was the people. All the students I met (which was more than I talked to at any other school) were great. They were all friendly and helpful. The staff was also great. I got to talk to many different people: professors, staff, admissions. Each person I talked to was great, they were all excited and willing to answer any and all questions. No other school that I visited allowed me to sit down with professors. I talked to at least three people in admissions, four different professors, and several students who were all very helpful. Maybe this sounds a little crazy, but I was really surprised at how nice everyone was. The other schools I visited simply did not have this level of interaction. They were all truly interested in who I was. I was also pleasantly surprised to have a personal acceptance letter. All the other schools inserted one or two sentences that were personalized, Lawrence's entire letter was personal and was actaully signed (not stamped). I am not going into medcine so I don't know much about pre-med programs, but from what I have seen the professors are more than willing to talk to you, I would try contacting one of them. I kind of rambeled a bit, but that's because it really does seem like such a great school.

pr academic rating=92 (on a scale of 60-99; so pretty high)

pct majoring in biology = 9 pct
33 pct go on to post grad work, with 8 pct going after an md and 4 pct going after a dds.

I can agree w/ excited's description of the people there. In other posts in this forum, I got the impression that LU students tend to be more cooperative than competitive.
