PeruvianMom, it's also possible that some student callers were more diligent than others. I've worked with groups where volunteer phoning was parceled out and the results have always been...erratic. That said, the college might be using work-study $$$ to pay students working for Admissions so that excuse might not apply afterall.

I hope I get another call. Oddly enough, I was so worried about getting a call that I didn't realize that I would never be home to receive it. Ironically, the same reason I got into Chicago is the same reason I am too busy to be around for their call: NO FREE EVENINGS. I definitely do way to much stuff. But on another note, did anyone notice that for priority housing (EA) that we have to reply by the 15th of April! I was hoping to visit any other colleges I might get accepted to, and wait to reply until May. This is a bummer. Can I post-mark the housing on the fifteenth? Can I do it online? Thanks

Jerew,
My S is in the same boat with priority housing. He'd like to wait until May to make the choice. Hmm...

i think the idea is that by applying early--if you expect to reap the benefits--you're going to have to commit a bit as well. this is intended to be a privilege...

I don't see why UChicago would set the priority housing respond-by date as the April 15. Not all schools notify RD applicants by the 15th; therefore, the 15th of March seems just as beneficial to EA acceptees as does the 15th of April. :p

i dont understand why you dont just think about where you'll go in the event of any combination of admittances from your RD round. that way, when you get the decisions in the mail on april 1, you will know.

BTW, S got a call from a Chicago junior tonight. She left a message and her email in case he has questions. She was spelling out her email and I had to laugh when she said "that's 'c' as in cookie and and 's' as in samonella." So very Chicago.

mom ..

<"that's 'c' as in cookie and and 's' as in samonella." So very Chicago.>

LOL!

The PSAC - Prospective Students Advisory Committee - posted up fliers asking students to volunteer from 6-8pm, last Tuesday-Thursday) to call and congratulate early-admitted students from our hometown and answer their questions. So many of you probably got phone calls, but it's possible that there weren't enough volunteers to call every single one of you, so don't fret if you didn't get a call! :)
