One of the classes I want to add later requires me to contact someone... Is it possible to get a spot in the course by just adding and contacting the person later?

Don’t worry too much about “instructor permission”

^ uh… some courses with “instructor permission” only translates to “requires enrollment code” on student center. So it might be a problem

If you want to be in a course and can’t enroll because of instructor permission, either email the professor now (if you’re sure you want to take it) or go to the first class session with an add/drop slip for the professor to sign and for you to give your registrar.

sigh I called the person I needed to contact yesterday and she told me to send her an email. I did that once I was able to (yesterday), and I have no response today. Should I be worried about the spots in the course running out? I really want to get in this course for the fall.

^Just enroll in the class first. You never know when your email would be replied (sometimes the profs never check their junk mails - sometimes my emails go to their junk mails :()

I can’t enroll, but I added the course (Beginning Mandarin I). Also, it’s not a professor I contacted; it’s another person that was I was directed to.
