I know that some high schools offer student charlie cards that offer a 50% discount on all public transportation, but I was wondering if colleges (specifically Northeastern) offers this? Do they have any way of helping students pay for public transportation costs?

Nope, sorry, not that I know of. The MBTA website says those are just for participating junior high and high schools. If you’re planning on using it a lot, you could get a monthly pass (I think there might also be some sort of semester pass too, but I think that’s hard to get?), but that’s only worth it if you’ll be using it a lot (more than a typical student).

Above is correct. The “student” discount is only for junior and high school students, and they get them through their schools. Northeastern allows you to buy a discounted semester pass, but you have to buy it pretty far ahead of the semester (you can’t buy it now for fall). It’s not hard to get, just a pain because you have to plan so far ahead and you have to pay the lump sum all at once instead of monthly. Or you can buy a monthly pass via the mbta website, but both are only worth it if you’re on co-op and commuting twice a day five days a week.
