As my D and me tried to explore "students organizations" page on Cal's web-site, some clubs we KNEW should be there weren't found on the common list of student organizations - neither by the first letter, nor by the category (art, cultural, academic etc.) Only when we entered the clubs' name in the "keyword" search, then they were shown. What does it mean? Do such things happen to the clubs which are not active on campus anymore?

Also, DD is interested in a capella singing. How many a capella groups are there in Cal? I found 2 on that list - not much for such a huge university. :( Are there more? How to find out more about them?

they have an amazing acapella group that performed for the OSP program.

does anyone know what hip hop dance is like at cal? hip hop is HUGE at uci- which makes it sooo tempting to pick. i'm not expecting a kaba modern sorta thing from cal but i'm hoping it's still alive there.

When I visited on cal day I must have seen at least four or five a capella groups performing!
I'm sure there are more around -- there is even one within the Regent's Scholar association!
Here is a site that seems to have info on some of the groups: UC Choral Ensembles

Are SLUgS (undergraduate linguistics club) still active there (their page doesn't show as it used to)? Anybody has any idea what exactly they do? What about cultural clubs - French, Russian ... European? Are they active/interesting and what people do there?

cal has a ridiculous amount of organizations...

gokitty4:
cal has a bunch of hip-hop groups, probably not on the level of KABA Modern or CADC but to name the major ones:
- Movement
- TRUElement
- Danceworkx
