Im a junior and applied for the summer crew position around a month before the deadline. I was wondering if anyone applied and got in or applied and didnt get in. Is the program selective? I mean does everyone basically get in?

It's a free program, which probably implies selectivity, though %s aren't mentioned on the website. It sounds interesting. Does anyone have any knowledge about this program?

According to Princeton Review*, the acceptance rate for high school students is about 25%. The variety of sites is amazing! I'm applying right now.

Does anyone know how long the answers to the short-response questions are supposed to be?

*I have reason to believe that PR may not be the best source for this kind of information.

I'm doing SCA this summer so if any of you get on a crew you should post about it. We might be on the same crew. =] I was on a crew last summer and it was really freaking amazing.

I believe my short-responses were 1-2 paragraphs long. I even made the hobbies one a list so I think it's pretty informal. I have no clue how selective it is but if you get on a crew and don't like your placement then you probably won't get another one. So it's not like they have tons of extra spots to fill.

Bump.... Is anyone going for sure? They don't have much information about specifically what we do on each site-- just a link to the national park.

I really want to go but it may interfere with another program. I was considering Landmark Volunteers before this, but it is much more expensive. What sites did you guys apply for?

I talked with the SCA people and they said the selectivity is about 50%, they are waiting for national permits from the parks so applicants will hear back anytime between now and the end of April. If you haven't heard, it is likely because your group's permit has not been approved yet.

I thought Landmark Volunteers was inexpensive?

my sister did it several years ago and she had a great experience in tennessee (her last choice region.)

i applied late for last summer and didnt get a spot.
i applied super early (september 07) for this summer and just got my spot, also in my last choice region (natchez trace parkway, in jackson, mississippi.) It should be alot of fun nonetheless.

whatismouse -- did they email you or call you? My son is anxiously waiting to hear.

email. different crews will hear responses at different times.
