I got an email from UCSD linking me to their bookstore site, with the discount being 50 bucks off (950 instead of 1000 for the macbook).

Is this offer the best you can get through UCSD? My friend got one-hundred dollars off, but he goes to a different school. So I'm just making sure.

Oh, and by the way, if I buy it online, do I need to provide my student id number or something? If so, how do I find out what it is?

I’m not sure if that’s the best discount you can get, but I do know that you should order it straight through Apple’s generic education discount store–they don’t charge for shipping on orders over $50, whereas UCSD does. Even Apple’s rush shipping ($15) was less than my normal ground shipping from UCSD. O_o;; ButI guess that depends on where you’re shipping it/if you’re shipping it at all.

So far as I know, your student ID should be the same number you’ve been using to log into Tritonlink.

Sometimes, there are special sales. UCLA was selling the white macbook for $750 this summer, and SD had a sale for $800.
