Please pray for the student, and his family, mentioned in article below. The student supposedly attended the rave near campus last night and early this morning. He came back to his dorm and threw a chair thru the window then he jumped. So sad!

So so sad…hope he is going to be alright. Prayers are with him and his family and friends.

“Today at approximately 6 a.m., a first-year male student was critically injured in a fall from an upper floor of Birnkrant Residential College. The causes of the incident are under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department with assistance from the university. Foul play is not suspected.”

Anyone knows how this child is doing?

Here is an update on the situation given by the LA times:

Thanks Nikara for the update. Sounds like his parents must be trying to maintain some privacy for their son. I did hear yesterday that he underwent an 8 hour surgery. Whatever the situation is with the fall sounds like this young man needs lots of prayers and help. I am sure that his roommate must be having a hard time with this too.

This is indeed one of the worst things parents dread when they send off their child to college. Cannot imagine what they are going through right now.

so did he fall on purpose

happyBuddha I think we will have to wait for the police report on this.

Prayer vigil was held for the student this evening. In critical condition but good news is minimal brain and no spine damage. He has had several surgeries. We can only hope and pray…

Thank goodness thats positive news! Lets hope and pray for his recovery.

Updated information about his status:

He has minimal damage to his brain, but does have major damage to spine and many bones in his body. His heart and lungs are good. It will be at least another week to find out the extent of spinal damage. He has a long road ahead of him but family and friends are optimistic knowing that his is strong and he is a fighter.

Friends are setting up a 24/7 prayer vigil for a week and those here on CC who are moved by this I’m sure will add to that in their own ways.

Yes we will! I have not stopped praying for him.

The prayer vigil started at 9:30 pm last night on the front of Sigma Nu’s lawn. cc411 will this continue into the day? or will it just be held only at certain times? Might be good for those of us close by to know. I would like to go by and participate. My sons would too.

Here is the sticle on the prayer vigil last night: [Vigil held Tuesday for student injured in fall|Daily Trojan](Vigil held Tuesday for student injured in fall - Daily Trojan)

At this time the Prayer Vigil will be around the clock through midnight next Tuesday, November 9. They are filling 15 minute slots. It is heart-warming how many people are supporting this.

BTW- USC has been amazing in its support. The president has visited the student and his family. USC is providing housing for the family during the entire extent of their stay. Top USC physicians are taking care of him. There is an outpouring of support and prayers from friends and the USC community.

I hope he is okay. Thank you bbgg, Nikara and cc411 for keeping us updated.

I wish someone could take “jumped” from the thread title, since we really don’t know if that’s the case.

So do I! i don’t know how to change it. Could someone tell me how to do it?

I wrote to an administrator/moderator and asked- hopefully they will change it.

Thank you cc411. i have been feeling really bad about this. I wish I had put down ‘fell’ instead.
