Student Government Fundraising Ideas

So I just got elected president of my class (don't congratulate me, it was a joke of a race) and I - shocker - actually want to try to make some changes in my class, because, frankly, we have many issues. We have no money saved and have just a generally bad attitude, so maybe I can attempt to change that.

The main issue with the last student council was that no one even attempted to think of plausible, interesting fundraising ideas.

Have any of your schools had particularly enjoyable, lucrative fundraisers that may benefit my class as well?

I've been throwing a few ideas around in my head. We did "Bingo Night" last year which was a pain to plan surprisingly, but in the end was really fun and pretty profitable. We're definitely doing it again next year.

I've also considered doing a Mr. and Ms. BHS (the initials of my HS) which would be a talent show, spanning a range of talents. Singing, stand-up comedy, dancing, whatever. I actually think this is a pretty common fundraiser at most schools and have always wondered why we don't do it at our school. Also - this one's a little out there - but a dodgeball tournament. From what I understand, almost everyone (esp. boys) love dodgeball, so I think this one could gain some steam. We could get cash from entry fees/spectator fees and refreshments.

Any other ideas or input?

(One caveat: Our administration is pretty strict, so some good ideas may get shot down for a variety of inane reasons)

Not really sure I could be a big help. But have you thought about a school store? I have one at my school and we don’t have to do any fundraising. We sells snacks and school supplies and that’s it. You could bring it up at a council meeting. It would take a while to get it through the board, the principal and lots of other factors but it’s truly worth it. But the dodgeball thing sounds amazing! I would love to be at your school for that!

I think the business club at our school has some sort of school store, but I think it’s basically unsuccessful. They might have beat me to the punch, but if my class could fix it up and get in on it, it maybe could work. That certainly would be a relief to have an automatic moneymaker like that.
