Student Housing

I have some questions…Is Aggie Advantage 120 Aggie Cash 100 enough for someone who eats only lunch and dinner, or should I get Frequent Diner 150 Aggie Cash 100?

And also do our housing preferences need to match our roommate’s exactly?
Are all the buildings Coed?

Thanks!

Just get the regular Aggie Advantage or Frequent Diner without the Aggie Cash. Aggie Cash is largely unnecessary IMHO. If you want to purchase food at one of the convenience stores on campus (not recommended since they’re pricey, and if you live in Segundo or Cuarto, there’s Trader Joes nearby) or eat at any of the food joints on campus, they pretty much accept cash and major credit/debit cards, anyway. And whether you get the 120 or 150 depends–do you eat out on weekends? If so, get the 120. If you’re going to be eating on campus every day for lunch and dinner, go with the 150.

The buildings are coed, but the floors may or may not be co-ed. I know some floors in Segundo and Tercero are female-only or male-only, while others are coed, but I know for sure that floors in the Cuarto area are co-ed. Your housing preferences ONLY needs to match your roommate’s exactly if there is someone you specifically want to room with (in other words, if you let the university randomly choose your roommate for you, then your housing preferences does not need to match because you don’t know who your roommate would be).

@sopranokitty:
For these incoming freshmen all meal plans will come with aggiecash (can explain their reason for this if needed).

@OP: Personally I think you’ll be ok with the 120, that was about perfect for me and I will almost never eat more than 2 meals a day. Plus the aggie cash will fill in any snack cravings or an occasional meal.

Like sopranokitty said, buildings are coed and housing preference lets you pick a co-ed or non co-ed floor. However this year there is only one all-male floor. I believe if you’re rooming with someone you know, there’s a special way to show that, otherwise your housing preferences may or may not match your roommate’s.

Tip: When sorting people, if you indicate a preference for a theme-community they will usually place you based on that first.

Thanks you guys. I think I’m going with the 120+100 Aggiecash. I didn’t really want Aggiecash but there were no options to leave it out :stuck_out_tongue: And I’ll be rooming with someone I know so I didn’t know if having slighty different housing preferences would mess things up.

Hey guys I was wondering if you could help me pick a meal plan as well! I eat three meals a day- breakfast/lunch/dinner and occasional snacks in between (won’t go to the dining hall for that though). I’d probably opt for a couple Cup Noodle’s or other cheap microwaveable stuff every now and then (because I’m lazy), and eat out maybe once or twice a week.

Also, I’m still confused as to what AggieCash is…is it kind of like using a gift card to several on/off campus places? And does that Trader Joe’s accept it? Thanks guys in advance!

Trader Joes does not accept Aggie Cash at all, they only accept regular cash, major debit/credit cards, and I think checks. It’s essentially like a debit card, I think, only the money’s in your student ID. [This gives a list](http://daviswiki.org/Aggie_Cash) of where Aggie Cash is accepted.

If you’re eating 3 meal a day, it depends. If the majority of your 3 meals is going to be at the DC, go with the 180, because the 150 is not enough for 3 meals a day.

Yeah all the mealplans are requiring me to have at least $100 in Aggie Cash so that’s good to know. I think I’ll put down the 180 just to be safe, and if I end up not using most of them I’ll downgrade next quarter. Good thing the meals rollover :)

Thank you for the help!
