<p>Is there some sort of online directory for students, that has the names of all the other students, which you can search?</p>
<p>Yes. </p>
<p>It’s in PAWS in the directory section. It’ll have everyone in there depending on if they chose to opt out of having their information in the PAWS directory.</p>
<p>And also dependent on how much information they chose to withheld you’ll have various information. Sometimes it’ll just be the student’s name and their major, sometimes it’ll have where they live and their phone number.</p>

<p>Oh yeah, there’s also a Public directory as well. Just go to lsu’s homepage and near the top right you’ll see a link that says “LSU directory”. It’s a directory in the same style, just with less information and students in it due to more people opting out of it.</p>
<p>Oh OK cool. But I don’t get your edit…so there’s two directories? And everybody’s in one and only some people are in the other? Haha wouldn’t one be enough?</p>
<p>Yeah, I didn’t really make myself clear when I typed it.</p>
<p>So, there are two directories and both look exactly the same.</p>
<p>1.) The PAWs directory. Only accessible through PAWs which means that only faculty, staff, and students can access it. It automatically puts every student, faculty, and staff in the directory, including their address (if on file), phone number, and etc. It’s automatically put up there, but you can choose to withhold information through your PAWS account or remove yourself all together.</p>
<p>2.) The Public directory. This is accessible to everyone. Faculty at other universities, potential employers, and even that creepy guy down the street. So, it might seem obvious, due to the latter, why LSU would not want to automatically put everyone into this directory with all their information. But it may also seem obvious why there would be students, faculty, and staff who want their information in the directory due to the first two reasons. </p>
<p>In either of the directory, you can limit the information put on there. Such as, I can have only my e-mail address listed in the Public directory, but have my address, phone number, place of work (if a student worker) in the PAWS directory.</p>
