Student Life? What Is It Like?

I am entering my senior year and getting ready for the bumpy ride ahead. I have a brother at Harvard, friends and cousins in many schools I am considering so thankfully have some insight that I don't think many in my shoes have. Williams is a school I know little about but we were once there for a wedding and I thought it seemed so special. My concern would be the size and lack of activity in and around the campus? Can anyone who is there expand on student life? Thanks! I am supposed to be going to visit there in about 2 weeks.

I've tried to answer questions like these in previous threads, but I can't seem to find a link to those older ones, so here I go again...

In a nutshell, Williams offers much the same opportunities as any other school in terms of activities and things to do. In terms of extra curriculars, we have student groups to suit every need, including the performing arts (choirs, instrumental ensembles, a capella groups, theater, dance, etc.), religious groups, ethnic student groups, a debate team, and so on. You can find a list of student groups on our student website, wso.williams.edu. And, of course, athletics play a huge role here on campus.

If your question is more geared towards Williams night life, you may be slightly disappointed if you're looking for the huge university party atmosphere. We don't have frats, and you won't find raging keggers three nights a week. On the other hand, there is always something to do on the weekends. Kids are always throwing parties, whether officially or unofficially (aka, the type that will usually get busted up by security).

I hope that answered some of your questions. Feel free to ask more.
