They recommend that everyone take the exemption exam for Map just so that you can get a feel for it...and the final exam in the class is a lot like the exemption so it gives you a feel for what the class is going to be like. You're definitely missing out by not having Pirtle though. Don't know about the new professor though...that will probably change things drastically (there was a period of a year when Pirtle left for health reasons and the fishies that took Map that year got a COMPLETELY different experience).
You register by the number of courses...so most students always take five courses per semester. Things like bio that have labs are added in but the lab isn't part of the "five courses" even though it looks like a sixth course on your schedule. A lot of times incoming freshmen choose to take four courses in their first semester, especially if they don't feel that high school prepared them enough just yet.

One of the deans told me that they usually tell freshmen to take 4 courses if they're taking an intensive language course.

I have another question: Hows the vegeterian food?

I'd say that it is pretty limited at the caf, there's always a salad bar, and a sandwhich bar. The veg. section changes very day, usually it's better than the entr

Yeah, if you're taking an intensive language you usually only take four courses since you're essentially fitting one year of language into one semester. Those classes usually meet everyday.

I was just joking Tlaktan... lol Though I am impressed... :) Next semseter I am only taking an intensive lang, and 3 other classes, Intensive tends to be VERY demanding!

what places other than o'donovan are on the meal plan?
also, when do you sign up for courses as a freshmen? the idea of taking 4 courses in the fall, especially if i get AP credit, sounds very good.

Will you be able to get all your core courses done in time if you end up only taking 4 courses because of intensive language? Or is that just for freshman year?

It depends on your major, school, etc. I'd say it depends on how much AP/IB or other advanced credit you bring with you. I have taken 5 so far every semester, next spring I'll be taking 5 with an intensive lag, which is very intense but doable. I'd recommend you took 5 classes, or 4 if your intensive is non-western, because you will get reasll behind in SFS. About meals, onlyy Leo's and Darnall are on the meal plan, they're suposed to be revamping it though, so who knows. There are very few places to eat on campus, but A LOT off campus. Walking distance.

Just wondering, in the College, which majors are generally considered the hardest? The easiest? Thanks.

an econ major is considered as the hardest college major and generally one of the toughest at gtown.
all econ related majors are very hard.
political economy (col), i econ and ipec (sfs)

mmmm... that's a difficult question, I'd say pre-med, bio, chem, ar eprobably the hardest majors or fields of study. I feel like every major can be as hard as you want it to be, it really just depends on what classes you take. You can make studio art (something that could be potentially REALLY easy) but make it hard. Same thing with being a math major, but taking easy classes, it's up to you.

hoyadan is also right....sciences at gtown are pretty difficult

Barcaholic has a very good point, Econ is hard, I hate econ! lol, not really kidding... :~)

its so funny...we live just doors away...and are communicating like this...hahaha..
daniel...i have a spanish oral exam tomorrrow!!!aaaaargh!

So what about government and philosophy? Are those generally considered hard, easy, or in between?

i would say in between.
from what i have experienced goverment and philosophy require lots of reading and papers, but they arent too difficult to comprehend.
econ at gtown is very analytical and mathematical, and hence pretty difficult.

intro gov't is pretty hard, the thing is, is that both of those majrs CAN be really hard, but especially phil. can be really easy, it depends on you, I'd say, to be fair that they are in b/w.

So then the easy majors are things like womens studies?

Women studies are interdpartmental so, it depends what classes you decide to take. But yeah, in many cases it can be an easy major.
