Student Loan Help

Hello. I am unfamiliar with the process of obtaining student loans and i would like a little bit of help. I have attended jr. college for 1 year and transferred to a university and have attended for 1 year. All without loans. However because of some family issues, i will have to start paying for school on my own and i am not sure how to go about taking out loans. Please help!

You need to pay a visit to the financial aid office at your university, and find out what your options are. If you will be a junior this fall, and you file the FAFSA, you can borrow up to $7,500 in federal direct (Stafford) loans. That’s it. Chances are that amount won’t cover much.

Only your own university’s financial aid office can tell you if your situation is such that they can give you an override, and award you more aid from other sources. If they can’t, you may need to study part-time so that you can work full-time and support yourself.

Good luck!

You can only borrow $7500 per year. To borrow more ( a bad idea) you would need QUALIFIED and willing co-signers for each remaining year.

How much does your college cost? How much can you earn working part-time during the school year and full time during summers?
