Student Loan Programs

Hi everybody,

I'm an international.. & may have to take out a loan for my education.

There are some loan programs available fo me:

Sun Trust - Custom Choice Loan
One CHarter - TruFit Student Loan®
Wells Fargo - Wells Fargo Collegiate® Loan
PNC - Undergr. Loan

and Sallie mae

Which one would you take and why?

Somebody told me that I better shouldn't take Sallie Mae, is Sallie really as bad as people say?

Thanks in advance.

Yes. But it won’t make any difference . . . no matter who you get your original loans from, you will likely eventually consolidate them into a single loan, at which point it will probably be administered by Sallie Mae anyway.

The only way to avoid lifelong indentured servitude to Sallie Mae is either to pay the loans off immediately after you graduate or leave the country and never come back. As an international, I guess that gives you rather an advantage . . . :)

Do you have a cosigner with good a good credit rating in the US? No one will lend a student (international or not) large sums of money without a cosigner that they know they can go after for the money in the event the student does not pay.
