Student loans but not parent?

My student loans were disbursed to me but not my parent loans.. Now I'm starting to worry whether I did the process properly or not... Is there any way I can check if they're working on it or not?

I’d say just call the Financial Aid office, or send an email. Both would probably be better :P

where did your loans get disbursed? they’re supposed to go out today but i dont know where to check…

Check on www.ursa.ucla.edu. In the financial section, you’ll see a link to the BAR account.

I’m in the same situation, did your parents sign up with a private lender or just do everything on studentloans.gov?

actually i think i got my loans… if it says 0 for the maximum credit card payable amount that means i’m good right?

@dxcdivad: You’re good! At least, I hope so, since that’s what it shows on mine, hahaha.

Oh god, were we supposed to sign with a private lender? Mine is still the same…

I just took out the Student Direct loan and my parents did the PLUS loan, but that’s it for me… not much reason you should have to sign with a private lender?

http://www.fao.ucla.edu/Publications/0910%20Federal%20Parent%20PLUS%20Loan%20Guide.pdf</a></p>

No, that’s from last year. The federal laws regarding student/parent loans changed because of a bill passed this year, so the Dept. of Education is now the “lender” for all Student Direct and PLUS loans. Therefore, you just have to complete the steps on www.studentloans.gov (also listed here http://www.fao.ucla.edu/publications/2010-2011/Direct_Parent_PLUS_Loan_Guide.pdf</a>), and you’re good to go.

serious stress cleared, thanks!

Wait so are Parent PLUS Loans also supposed to be disbursed to the BAR? Because it wasn’t done to my BAR so now it says I still have like $1,600 to pay.

same situation

i talked with the loan disbursement people at ucla today…basically if your parents indicated on their application that they wanted the loan sent to them (the borrower) and not the student, then the funds are being mailed to the home address. If they selected that the funds be given to the student, then the funds should have been put into the BAR account.

what u are talking is right no one do these type of things with any one and if there is a thing of somebody else so u should give them as soon as
