I'm sure this has been covered somewhere but I haven't seen it. My parents aren't very involved in my college planning so I need to look up student loans.

Do you have any idea of where to start or the type of loan that would be best for a higher income family, if that is a factor on the type of loan to get. I haven't applied for aid at the school I'm going to be attending. Also, my parents never saved any college funds for me so basically I have $0 for school and VERY little in scholarships. Help?

Also, the tuition at the school I will be attending (I'm deciding between two) is ~$14,937 - $20k+ plus room and board.

I honestly have NO clue about this at all so even what seems to be the simplest advice would help me greatly. Thank you!

This is definitely covered somewhere. Where have you looked? Do they have bookstores or libraries in your part of Michigan? It would be a lot of work for someone here to write it all up for you and put it in a post.

It may still be worth you completing FAFSA even if you are a higher income family. Some non need based loans (such as unsub stafford) require you to complete FAFSA

To apply for a Stafford Loan, you must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Even though the unsubsidized Stafford Loan is available to all students regardless of financial need, you must still submit the FASFA to be eligible.
