I need to retake the SAT/ACT if i apply to more schools though, cause i dont want to go to iu/purdue/or hanover

You need to retake your SAT and ACT, but only if your schools will accept scores from 2010 sittings.

Where else can you apply?

Have you visited IU or Purdue? I would think IU would be a good fit for a future lawyer. It’s also got a lovely campus.

You were lucky to get accepted to NYU…their acceptance stats are below.

Middle 50% of
First-Year Students Percent Who
Submitted Scores
SAT Critical Reading: 610 - 710 87%
SAT Math: 600 - 720 87%
SAT Writing: 620 - 710 87%
ACT Composite: 27 - 31 13%

Yeah I know. I guess they saw me as more than a test score. Because really, I am a great applicant despite my scores. Ha.

And some other school will also see you as more than a test score. Dream schools can be for professional or grad school too. You may end up in NYC at some point!!

Yeah, I guess I’ll wait until they call me back next week (which is hopeless). Then decline their offer.

Sad…

Sad for a bit, but now a new adventure begins. Now you need to consider other schools.

Are you male, female, URM???

What was it that you liked about NYU?

What do you NOT like about Purdue or IU?

What do you like? Big schools, small schools, quiet schools, rah rah big sports, rural, big city, college town, warm weather, cold/snowy weather, Greeks,???

What ECs or ??? do you think caused NYU to look beyond your test scores?

Male. I like the city life, internship opportunities, academics. I dont want to stay in Indiana. I need a fresh start with no one I know going to school with me.

I like big school, city, sports dont matter, dont care about weather, greek dont care.

I had a VERY strong essay for NYU. Plus I went to a summer school at georgetown to study politics that helped. Also president of 2 clubs and involved in school. 4.0 unweighed gpa. etc.

Will too many of your classmates be at IU and Purdue?

Refresh my memory - how much will your mom contribute towards your education each year?

Have you asked your dad how much he’ll contribute? If not, you need to do so, so you’ll know what your financial situation is.

She said MAX $10,000, but thats pushing it. And, they made more this year than they’ve ever made before. And my step dad has the possibility of getting laid off in Feb (works at Ford)… I’d say $4,000 - 6,000 a year is realistic.

My dad… idk if my mom wants him to. She kind of wants him out of the picture.
