I've decided on U of M, but I've been wondering about buying tickets to football & basketball games. Can I buy discount tickets for other people? Also, how much of a discount do students get? and how available are the tickets? Is there anything I need to know about it?

No guest tickets for basketball. Football never sells out the whole student section and guest tix are $25. Every ticket is free to every student who wants it because of the mandatory activities fee. There is a lottery system.. u can check it out at tickets.umd.edu. I haven't been denied a ticket yet but that's because I go to nearly all bball and football games. Duke and NC were killer games this year.

PS: Don't mother****ing scan and leave or u will be lambasted by every upperclassman who actually goes and stays at the games. When u go to a game, they scan ur ticket to make sure that u get credit for coming.. but then u can just turn around and go home.

i am pretty sure there was a football game that sold out. Actually I am pretty damn sure it happened a few times because i remember my friends waiting too long and not getting them. I went to every football game and all but one basketball game. Not to hard to get tickets as long as you go to the games.

There are two steps to getting tickets. Requesting and being granted tem and then claiming. I forgot to claim tickets to one of the biggest games of the year, UNC basketball, after being granted one. I got one during the "on demand" stage where people who don't get tickets can get them. Its pretty easy if you know what you're doing. So getting tickets is pretty easy. Therefore, tickets being free you won't have to buy any tickets.

every other sports ticket is free
