<p>a “tier 1” credit score will vary by lender. You can always check what rate you would receive by the private lender and compare it with offers from other private lenders and the PLUS loan to see what is really most advantageous for you.</p>

<p>I will need a small loan for a year or two and was looking just at Plus loans. I will also look at private to see what rate I will get.
I got a rate under 8% for a plus loan in 2006 through NJclass because I had auto-debit, I think it was 6.75.</p>
