Hi. I am a freshman Mechanical Engineering major at WashU. So far, I'm really enjoying my time here. Classes are definately hard (Gen Chem is a killer!!), but doable if you put in the time. Studying is a definite must, even if you didn't have to in high school. Extracurricular-wise, there is a club for everything. We are D III athletics but we have some good teams. (IM sports are also popular. On a nice day, you can see tons of people out playing frisbee or running). Parties are pretty standard -- if that's your thing there are opportunities. If you want to know something more specific, post a reply and I'll answer!

does st louis feel like the middle of nowhere? ;-)

St. Louis doesn't feel like the middle of nowhere. Even though we are in Missouri, which is mostly rural, St. Louis is a major city. Anyway, we live in the "WashU" bubble. Without a car, most of freshman year is spent on campus.
