Students seem to have really diverse opinions about UofR...

I was just searching for more info on UofR since this forum is kinda sluggish, so I went onto a college rating site that students write in and I found some interesting stuff.

<a href="http://www.studentsreview.com/NY/UR_c.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.studentsreview.com/NY/UR_c.html</a></p>

some students hate it and other love it.but overall, they said that lifestyle is pretty boring. and there is a fair amount of crime off campus and near campus. just thought it was interesting...

Yeah. I've been there. I think everything has some truth to it but is highly exaggerated. (People are more likely to post there if they have really strong feelings about a school.) Every college pretty much has diverse rankings on that site. It is interesting to read, but don't trust everything you see there.

I agree that the results on students review are skewed. The people who rate are typically in love with their school or wishing they could/had transferred. As for the differing opinions of it, I think it basically comes down to what you expect out of a school. Rochester has an engineering/premed bent, so the students tend to be more serious and less into partying as a whole. For many people, this is a godsend. For others, it is the worst experience imaginable. It all depends on what kind of person you are.

As for crime, it is located right on the outskirts of the city of Rochester in a bubble, so you can expect some crime. The benefit of this area is that there are lots of cultural events, such as the national photo exhibit-- the George Eastman House.

Boring can be nice for some people and you make your own fun anyway :)
