Students that currently attend UCf...

Mind sharing your experience there? How well did you adapt to the environment? Is Orlando a busy place? Is it easy to find a job at a theme park, like Disney? The more info., the better!

I currently live in Jacksonville, and hoping to attend summer term, but I've never actually got the chance to go around Orlando that much or visit the school. I want to hear your personal experiences!

I don't know if I'm ready to move out of my Parents' house and adapt to a whole new environment.

I live in tampa but i have been to orlando plenty of times! while UCF is in orlando its about an hour from disney world. but the school is gorgeous. VIST IT!!:)

Hey, did you apply to USF, or is UCF the only school you applied to?

I think the main reason that I want to attend UCF is because I absolutely adore all the theme parks.

I visited UCF a couple of weeks ago.

Orlando is a bumpin’ place. Tourists (mainly during the summer), clubs, theme parks (Universal is 20 - 30 minutes away), commercial centers (one is 5 minutes down the street; food, shopping, entertainment, the works), everything. It’s a lively place with many things to do. UCF, however, is on the “edge” of Orlando, so you won’t be too distracted from your studies ;)

The campus itself is large, but accessable due to it’s “circles within circles” design. It’s very clean, spacious, and very modern and high tech. Visit sometime! You won’t regret it.

who me? not at all i applied to 5 schools.

if u have a car though and are plannin on bringing it to college ask ur parents for season passes as a graduation gift.lol i asked mine but there not biting

Bonafide- Woo! Sounds like the place I’d like to live in! Hope the city is not too ‘busy’ though. Sounds like they would have a great nightlife!

JTaylor104- Yep, I was asking you! Haha. Wow, 5 schools? But UCF is your first choice, correct? I’m applying to 4! I was going to apply to USF, but I’m not interested in living in Tampa, at all!

Yea, I do plan on bringing a car, so that I could come home at least once a month to visit my parents. I’m gonna miss them to death! What are season passes?

Gotta stop getting so excited, when I don’t even know if I’m gonna get accepted or not, yet!

Season passes are for Disney and Universal, but don’t forget to ask for a Sun Pass - there are tons of toll roads in Orlando on the way to the theme parks.

We are from out of state, but since we vacationed there all the time we sent our daughter down with one and by Christmas, all of her native FL friends asked for one too.

Go Knights!

lol ok so i have seasosn passes to busch gardens since i live in tampa.

but bascially you go to the park and pay like $100 for disney world and than as long as you have your pass you can come back all year. there really nice lol.

my mom is still debating on whether she will let me bring my car or not. she says i will not need it freshman year but i really want it lol. but yea from what u have heard orlando has AMAZING nightlife tampa does in ebor but tampa is sorta boring to me lol.

Oh cool! I’ll ask for one when/if I get accepted! Don’t want to buy a pass and not be able to use it that much!

They say you don’t need a car, but of course it’s a lot more convenient to have one. Thank God my dad is buying me a car for college!

A car would be nice to have but its not really needed. I dont have a car and Ive managed just fine so far. The only thing you would need a car for is groceries or to go out somewhere. It’s not really needed for anything else because driving to class is rediculous since it would take you much longer to find parking than it would to talk to your class and back. The environment is awesome and theres tons to do. Ive only done a few things but I know theres so much more. Ive already gone to dowtown disney and universal city walk a few times. On campus theres always stuff going on, especially the first few weeks of class. expect lots of free stuff! its awesome, take advantage of it. certain thigs take getting used to like managing ur own food, meaning setting aside time to make something if you wanna eat at home, constantly checking to make sure nothing has gone stale. remembering to eat lol also it took a little while to get used to managing my own time. im still working on that. what I mean is that having a college schedule and being on your own, you’re going to have large random gaps of free time between classes. While it is awesome, the best thing to do would be to get some work done. Im slowly learning and applying that concept. Lets see what else… Well I also get along pretty well with my room mates. You’re gonna meet lots of new people. Hopefully your room mates have similar tastes in things as you do and your personalities mesh well or else things will suck! Ill end this message right here for now but feel free to ask any other questions and I’ll try my best to answer! OH! I’m also in the Honors College if you wanna know more about that.
