Students?

Please describe a typical student at a prep school. How does one differ from the typical public high school student?

I know well that there really is no typical student, but please try to address the following questions of the student bodies of prep schools in general:

-What do the students talk about?
-What do the students do with their spare time (if any)?
-How do they tend to gather at meal times?
-Are they typically rich and snobby, or wealthy but accepting and humble?
-Do their interests and discussions bypass the low level discussions among students at public high schools, only pertaining to other people?

they talk about life, fun, school, and the normal drama

this depends if you are quick at hw you will hang out with friends and have fun, if you are slow at hw you don’t have much time during the week days mon-fri or sat

well if they have formal diners they will gather in the way specified by the school, normally you sit with your friends at lunch and breakfast and diner, it really depends on the school

the latter, schools will not except a snobby person and if they did by mistake the snobby person would learn quickly that their attitude will not be tolerated by the other students

yes yes yes, bs students are mature, a thing that is the best is that you will go to a school where people are at your intellectual level and you will not have to deal with silly conversations, a couple weeks ago in my History class the teacher and I were having a wonderful discussion over something ( I have many with her so I do not remember which one it was) and out of no where a girl in my class said you can’t point like this because you have three fingers pointing back at you, at that moment I couldn’t wait to go away and be able to have a discussion with the class not just the teacher and there will be no idiotic comments

Exeter students:

talk about life, homework, music, sports, tv shows, movies, drama, politics, rules, history, international relations, science and the most random things like Pokemons or salad. As you can see people talk about a wide range of topics.

Sports, music, homework, simply hanging out, mall trips, movie trips, movies, club meetings, eat, sleep, dance parties.

You sit with your friends, your classmates, your team mates and occasionally, your teachers or some faculty’s kids.

Latter. People are really humble. As far as I can tell, the “rich” kids don’t really stand out. Everyone seems equal. Everyone treats each other equally :)

Thanks! Any other perspectives?

@ asiankid29: pokemon is never random, it is always relevant.

a current student at andover mentioned something about people owning PRIVATE JETS… um… wow, i know they’re rich but seriously!!!

I know someone that has one and she is probably one of the most down to earth people I know. She doesn’t care about looks, she is one of the nicest people I know, she is really smart and never flashes her money, so please do not judge them right away, you probably were not but never do please thank you, if that sounds mean I’m sorry I didn’t want to sound mean at all

It is my limited experience that the newer the money the flasher and more insecure people tend to be. Obviously there are exceptions. I attended school with millionaires so I am not totally unkowledgeable in this area.

^ Completely agree. The newer the money, the flashier they get.
