does anyone know anything about the studio/fine arts program at sarah lawrence? i haven't yet been able to visit or talk to any professors teaching visual arts (i plan to), but would love some information. i'm a little confused as to how the seminar classes work with a hands-on, studio-type major.

anybodyyy?

I'll give you a tip, and I mean this in a good way: don't post here. The board is pretty much stagnant.

Sadly I know nothing about studio arts at SLC, but I will tell you this: perhaps it is best that you ask current students on livejournal.com. People seem to be on there all the time, so you are bound to get your questions answered.

thank you!

And don't take the lack or interest here as an indication of anything about the school other than that many great small schools have little-to-no presence on CC. I take that as a good sign of a healthy student body not obsessed with SATs, GPAs, etc. Of course you should understand there is no such thing as a "major" at SLC.

I have a D at SLC who began as a fine arts major at a top U in a BFA program, transferred to SLC, and has had a great time combining her artistic interests with many other topics and courses. The beauty of SLC is that you can do anything. The new art facilities are impressive and my D speaks highly of the art professors with whom she's had experience. I've seen some of my D's work in art and, for a non-major program, I've been very impressed with the scope and freedom, as well as my D's results.
