Daughter just got her studio assignment…Strassberg.

same here… :(

I got into Playwrights Horizon. :D

Why are you all dissapointed with Strassberg, I would be happy with anything. lol

My son got into Strasberg also.

strasberg also

i got into atlantic theater company… is that one of the lesser studios?

^No, it isn’t. They all seem pretty sweet.

Sorry, I hope I didn’t come off that way. My daughter is actually very excited!

does anyone know how big strasberg is? are all the studios the same size or what?

Just look at all you musical theater kids in these other studios…you won’t be alone as a MT person at all. I just answered some questions Clay posed about Strasberg in the other studio placement thread.

Atlantic is not a lesser studio!! It is an amazing studio and very hard to get into. Ask AlwaysAMom about it…her D graduated from it.

The studios vary in size some. For instance, Meisner is a small studio. But no matter the size of your studio, classes are broken into sections of no more than 15.

Remember, most kids who land in a studio that was possibly not their first choice originally, almost always find out that they love their studio once they experience it. Also, after the first two years, you have the option of remaining in your studio or auditioning to get into a different studio for advanced studio for two years. Or you can switch by audition after three years too.

Stella Adler, does anyone know anything about that?

As I posted on the other thread, my son got into Stella Adler. It is the biggest acting studio I believe. I think it may be a little more “method”-y than some of the others (with the exception of Strasberg), but my impression is that it is one of the best primary studios for classical acting, which is a big interest of my son’s.

Anticipation16…congrats on Atlantic. I would consider myself flattered by that placement! Atlantic is known for being rigorous, and it offers a training approach that is unique in the US and very highly regarded by many people. The playwright David Mamet and the fantastic actor William Macy (and is wife Felicity Huffman who is a Dangerous Housewife among other accomplishments) have Atlantic connections.

NJTheatreMom…congrats to your son for Adler! You pegged it right about Adler…GREAT studio for acting. You also pegged it right about Atlantic!

Son got into CAP21. He’s happy.

I got into Experimental Theatre Wing!

Could someone please tell me a little more about it (BEYOND what you can see just on the website).

Is it a small studio? What does it have a reputation for being? any info would be greatly appreciated!

nutter…i wrote a bit about ETW on the other studio thread.

My daughter was assigned to the Meisner Studio.

Does anyone know if by “voice and speech” classes in Stella Adler if that means actual voice lessons, like singing?

Voice and Speech is for actors and involves how they use their voice as actors. It is NOT singing. Even in CAP21, my daughter took Voice and Speech for four semesters IN ADDITION to singing.

No, no, voice and speech are voice for actors. Not singing. They tend to teach (at least in CAP21) the Linklater technique though some also use Lessac.
