Studio's that cost under $1200?

Hi, does anybody know any available studio rooms under 1200 (preferably around 800-1000) that are walking distance to campus and of reasonable quality? If so, could you give me the address so I could go check it out. Thanks guys and if asking something like this is against the CC forum rules that I apologize.

bump. I guess this thread is of one those “you shouldn’t ask on CC” type things or is everyone just scrambling to find a place?

Diivio, my friend’s D is going there for graduate school. Finding a nice studio is way out of range, she says, but finding a nice room is possible. They are going out there to actually meet those who have roommate/suitemate/apt mate wanted out there so she can get some idea of who she’ll be living with.

My sons both have rooms in apartments here in NYC and are paying very reasonable amounts. No way a studio would even come close to affordable. Gotta go in with some people in a 2-3 BR, with a room coverted to a BR type arrangement to be affordable in high rent situations or go further from the hot points and commute.

You’d have to look for studios farther away from campus to get that price. I know one of the bluish buildings on Walnut (northside) has studios for around $900.

Same for the studios at Grace Garden (intersection of Hearst and Arch/Leconte).

But from what I’ve heard, the quality is only so-so.

I lived right next to Grace Gardens in the red brick building. My studio was $950 due to rent control. It was a pretty good size for the price and location. You’ll get lucky if you find something at that price so close to campus (literally, I was across the street!).

this seems nice:

Check out a place called Haste Manor. It’s basically dorm-style living but for really, really cheap for their studios. (You share a bathroom with a floor which is like three or four rooms. There’s no kitchen.)

thanks you guys, yeah I’m going out this coming week to get an apartment for the year.

Most of the studios on the south side are pretty run-down. It’ll be hard to find good ones at that range, but if you search on craigslist everyday, you’ll find a good one occasionally.
