<p>If your daughter doesn’t absolutely require college credit, and wants to do something really different and immerse herself in the local culture, she might look at the WWOOF host farms in Austria and Germany. Helpers are volunteers who can learn anything from tending sheep and cattle to making cheese, growing organic vegetables, building fences, and baking bread. They stay with the family usually, and receive room and board but no pay.

<p>the University of Maryland has a college campus in Mannheim. It’s mostly for military folks but has a fair number of traditional undergraduates as well. They have some interesting study tours.</p>
