Hi!
So I'm about to go abroad for my freshman year and I'm having issues figuring out how to pack...
The country I'm going to has most stuff I'd need but it's expensive, so I'd prefer to bring my own of a lot of stuff.
I have two free suitcases up to 70 lb and a carry-on.
How did you guys do it?

Buy sheets and towels once you get there. Remember that you’re going to want to bring stuff back home as well.

I’m buying my linen there, but I’ve received mixed reviews on whether I want to buy my towels there or not.
I’m actually going home for a week or so halfway through the year, so anything that I bring that doesn’t end up used will probably go home with me then.

2 70-lb suitcases is totally doable. I packed for my freshman year of college in a single 70-lb suitcase to carry on Amtrak and didn’t forget to include any essentials. I also spent 6 months overseas and packed in a 50-lb suitcase and a duffle bag.

One thing to remember: you don’t need to bring every item of clothing you own. Pick judiciously. And remember that clothes pack tighter when rolled instead of folded. Actually, generalize that: you don’t need to bring everything you own. It’s an exercise in thinking about what you really need. It’s kind of nice to realize that you don’t need all of the junk use have around.
