^ 100 sounds about right. But this is in the cafe, so not alot of people come here, maybe if it was posted in several other forums including this one, it would get more responses.

Where would you like me to put it?

I put this in the cafe and forum issues sections, but it isn't getting much attention.

I think a subforum for students studying abroad would be a good idea. I've seen a couple people on here who've wanted to see one. True, one could post in their individual college's forum, but many colleges aren't on CC. Plus, it could serve to educate users on what study abroad entails.

Okay, I put it in College Life and the Parent's forum.

I think its a great idea! I'm definitely thinking about studying abroad for a semester when i go to college since I love to travel, so I would love information or experiences anyone has to share.

As a parent, I think an abroad forum would be a nice touch. My daughter will be going abroad second semester and I for one would like to see what other students saw about her location.

Having studied abroad, I think it's a really good idea. There are so many tips and such that I really wish people had told me, and there are places that I wish I had seen and places with which I wouldn't bother if I had it to do over again. And with things like that, it doesn't matter which undergrad you attend (in fact, one of the most fun parts is meeting American college students who go to different colleges around the US).

I would like to see one too. My son is going next Spring.

Sent a PM to Roger Dooley and received this reply:

We'll set up a Study Abroad forum shortly. Thanks.
Roger

I'm keeping my fingers crossed it will start up soon.

Here's another vote for it. It's an avenue that we figure both our D's will take, and there are SO MANY options out there, it's really hard to know what's good. When we were doing the college-search thing, most of the big universities had a great Study Abroad department, but then also said that you could go through a different university and possibly still get credit---or make up your own program. There's almost too many options---and, having some personal anecdotes may help, not only in the choice of the program, but also as a heads up for expectations and experiences.

A Study Abroad forum would be a great idea!

So it's gonna happen? Good. My D is enjoying her time in soggy ol England.

I think it's definitely a good idea. As someone who will probably spend all the following summers after this abroad (only didn't this summer because I didn't get a passport in time) and will spend my entire junior year abroad, I need all the information I can get.

I definatly want to see one because I'm applying to schools to study abroad for a year in the fall ^_^! *crosses fingers to get accepted

OMIGOSH! I did something!

OMGOMGOMGOMGSomeone in my thread in the parents forum said Roger would be making one!!!

OMGIZZLE!

lol snoopy, care to tell us who, when, and where?...lool

I don't think there is enough interest to have an entire subforum for this topic; however, if someone wants to start a thread about tips for study abroad, I can make it a featured discussion so that the topic stays on the top page. If there is continued interest, I can eventually make it a stickie thread.

Please keep in mind that limited interest/participation in such a thread may eventually precipitate a move back into the regular forum list of threads.

wooo hooooo
