Study Abroad forum?

NJ113 is right, most newer laptops can work with either 110 or 220 Volts automatically, but check to be sure. You will also need a little adapter so it can plug into the wall. Radio Shack, WalMart, Fry's Electronics and lots of other places sell these. They don't change the voltage, they just make it possible to plug into the wall, so don't try to plug your US hair dryer into the wall overseas with one of those.

For battery chargers, I would just get a charger in the country overseas, but you could bring the batteries from here. The main thing is to be sure you have a charger that matches the type of battery, like NiMH, Lithium, or NiCad. The voltages for those are pretty universal (usually between 1.2 - 1.5 volts).

There's a great cell phone company in Europe called Platform 3000, that lots of friends and students of mine have used. GREAT service and quality.

yah, i am going to be a freshman in college, and I am definitely interested.

I guess it didn't happen? Oh well!

Perhaps you can send your request to Roger Dooley, Forum Administrator and link him to this discussion as well.

We used the AAA Prepaid Travel cards, and they worked out very well. I would highly recommend them.

In response to requests from many CC members, we've added a study abroad forum. This is for all discussion of studying abroad, including high school exchange student issues, college semester or year abroad, etc. Enjoy!

first(10 char)

dang, i wish i was second. 2 is my favorite number. lol, this is awesome. i'm hoping for some good info on here

I have moved old existing threads and current active threads from other fora on CC where the topic is Study Abroad.....either for high school students, summer abroad programs, college study abroad, or graduate programs abroad. I have left permanent redirects in their previous locations. I have left all study abroad threads specific to certain colleges within their own college forum.
