How highly would you rate the study abroad options at Harvard (specifically in Africa)?
Are grants extremely competitive? or manageable?
Does anyone have any stories of experiences abroad that they wish to share?

I am interested in education, specifically the education of global health issues and women empowerment.

Thank you so much :)

I don’t think studying abroad in Africa should be difficult at all, but I do not have any personal experience. If you’re interested in studying abroad, take a look at:

Office of Career Services: [OCS-Students: Global Opportunities](http://www.ocs.fas.harvard.edu/students/global-opportunities.htm)
Office of International Programs: [Office of International Programs, FAS, Harvard University](http://www.fas.harvard.edu/~oip/)

There are also courses offered specifically on global health, one of which I do know is a general education course taught by several Harvard Med School professors, one of whom (Paul Farmer?) actually oversees projects in Haiti and Rwanda.

As for women empowerment, there is the HCWC that is prominent on campus, as well as other clubs and organizations.

Hope that helped :).
