Study Abroad in high school

Oldest D, wasn't interested- or at least not organized enough to study abroad in college. She would have to have done it between sophmore and junior year- which would have meant freshman year spent planning.
( plus its not like it would be her only opportunity to travel)

However- youngest is much more adventurous and is enrolled in a high school class that trains students to fix computers and train others to maintain them. They they take the computers far, far away and stay about three weeks getting to know the people and helping them with their village.

I was glad to hear she found a trip she was interested in- I am a little concerned about health issues- as she has heat sensitivity (she hasn't had to be hospitalized- but she gets dehydrated and it takes days to recover- apparently not uncommon with people on the autistic spectrum- something about their neuro system)- not to mention all the fun protozoa that you can bring home.

( Did I mention I have been watching DVDs of * House*?)
But while I imagine there will be quite a bit of culture shock ( they are going to Ghana- not sure where- yet), it wasn't until I read the college study abroad thread that I wondered about "reentry".

The class is having a meeting for parents next week- are there any questions that I wouldn't think to ask that might be helpful?

Wow, that sounds like an interesting class. I spent much of my childhood in East Africa. Stomach bugs are pretty much par for the course. Take Lomotril. Ask about dress code, most African countries expect more modest dressing than is the norm in the US.
