I'm going to be a high school senior next year, and I want to study abroad next year, but only for one semester. Is this possible? Which semester would it be better to go during? Would it hurt my chances of going in to college? Would it benefit me overall to just not study abroad? Sorry, I have so many questions!

I know people who study abroad for a whole year with Rotary.
Alot of times its a hook & only hurts you if your grades sucked before you left.
Most of the kids are at UF, FSU, UG, Duke and one got into Swarthmore so I say you’ll be fine if you take legit classes and are a strong applicant. I actually love the idea of being exchange student. I miss living abroad

Good luck with it though.

I’m also familiar with the Rotary program. I would recommend either waiting until you graduate and take a gap year or just study abroad through your college. You can’t necessarily choose where you go with Rotary, so you may be put in a country with an unfamiliar language. In that case, it might be better to go after senior year so the grades don’t matter for anything (my sister went to Croatia and was very happy about that). Also, my sister had no trouble at all getting colleges to agree to defer her admission. In fact, she called her top choice (at which she had been waitlisted) to inquire about applying again in the next cycle. Upon hearing that she was going to Croatia, they accepted her. Based on that purely anecdotal evidence, I’m going to make the assumption that it definitely helps in college admission (though I think this is a big commitment and if you want to do it for college you may want to think again).
