study abroad, which language

i will major in Economics, and think about studying aboard in a country, which will benefit my future career. i want to learn a new language, but i am comfused about which one to learn? can some of people give me any advice? thank you

what school are you in?

Cas, nyu

talk to your adviser. you need to find out which study abroad site has the most econ classes. then you can either start your language here in NY and finish it abroad, or do all of your language abroad.

i would say shanghai, because mandarin is probably the most useful language in the world as for at least 24% of its population speaks it, and with the blooming chinese economy.

however im extremely biased bc im from shanghai and IT IS THE BEST.

I would also say shanghai b/c mandarin is pretty much THE most important language other than english to know our 21st century world b/c
a. china’s economy is rocketing even in this recession
b. a looooot of ppl are chinese.

but i’m biased too, b/c im chinese also. (a testament to point b that i made)

what about Spain? i don’t know any spanish, by the way. do you think a year’s study of spanish will keep me away from the language problem?

okay, wait. are you a freshmen here or a high schooler asking?

cause i would honestly just ask your adviser about all this. or just go to the global programs office in the basement of UHall at 14th street.

my advisor is not helpful at all. i am a freshman here.

global programs can help you out. they’re really nice in that office and have a TON of information.
